Soho Walking Tour (Big Onion Walking Tour)

Haughwout Building - 490 Broadway

Another wonderful walking tour with the Big Onion folks.... we really enjoy the balance of history and up-to-date information shared by the well informed guides.... SOHO - South of Houston Street.....

This section of the city has the largest concentration of buildings with cast iron facades.... the buildings have a huge variety of fronts (some chosen from catalogues) attached to brick buildings and then painted..... it made for interesting viewing and as always added to our understanding of the history of NYC.....

Very difficult NOT to picture Godfather movies as we wandered around  during the early hours of the San Gennaro Festival....Not part of the Soho tour, but Nolita was (North of Little Italy).... so we walked through this tiny part of Little Italy to get to Nolita....

The original location of St. Patrick's Church was here in the Soho/Nolita area..... our guide pointed out that the masses are offered in English, Chinese and Spanish.... quite a variety!!
The tours are always reasonably priced and excellent. The tours begin near subway stations and the guides are willing to point you in the direction of transportation or landmarks when they conclude.....
