Checking Out the Hamptons.......

With both of our bodies needing a rest and having survived over 10 days of subway transportation, we took off in the car for the Hamptons this morning.... By about 8:45 we were regretting the decision as we had to make it through some nasty traffic on the way to the Long Island beaches.... at least by the route we selected.....Once we got out of Queens and onto the Long Island Expressway things improved....... The beaches and towns were great.... not many PUBLIC beaches, though!

The beaches were beautiful and very deserted even though it was a gorgeous day.... we couldn't really see much of the mansions... many had HUGE hedges to keep them private..... the little villages of South Hampton and West Hampton were quite charming.... 

Even though it was gorgeous.... we had to leave shortly after lunch.... we were afraid of getting caught AGAIN in traffic on a Friday evening at rush hour..... Much quicker trip home and got to see some scenery as we drove......
